Welcome to Scuba Quest's Frequently Asked Questions section on our Thailand Live-aboard cruises to Similan Islands and beyond.

We have done our best to compile a list of questions that our Guests ask us before embarking on one of our liveaboard safaris.

The 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. --What you will need on board?
A1. : CERTIFICATION CARD, SPECIAL MEDICATION YOU NEED, 1200,-Thai Baht National park fee, Beach towels, suntan lotion, all your toiletries, hat or something similar, sunglasses, books, your favorite games and light clothes, shorts, t-shirts, one set of warmer clothes for the evenings and batteries if they are unusual size, all packed in a soft bag. Any excess luggage can be stored at our office or at your hotel during the trip.Other than camera cases no hard cases are permitted on the boat.
 
Q2. --Can I get picked up somewhere else?

A2. We pick-up and drop-off passengers to and from Phuket Airport ( extra charge), The usual pick-ups from your hotel in Kata, Karon, Patong or Kamala (see departure day).

VERY IMPORTANT - Be sure to reconfirm your onward flights before leaving on the boat; otherwise you may find your seat has been sold! Your hotel or our office staff can be of assistance.

 
Q3. -- Day of departure?

A3. We will pick you up from your hotel should you be on M/V Mermaid 2, at about the following time table (this may vary from boat to boat)

In Kamala: 17.30, In Kata: 18.00, In Karon: 18.30, In Patong: 19.00

and bring you to our office , where all the paperwork & equipment can be finalised.

We leave the office about 20:30 hrs to arrive at the boat at about 2100 hrs. This is followed by a boat brief and a late supper.

 
Q4. -- The Diving?
A4. Diving on liveaboards in our area is generally 4 dives a day including a night dive. This is of course dependent on weather & sea conditions. Occasionally they don't do what we want them too!
 
Q5. -- Showers?
A5. There are usually hot showers and deck showers on each livaboard and there is sufficient fresh water on board for showers and camera rinse. As on all ships, passengers are asked to use water sparingly.
 
Q6. -- Sleeping?
A6. Depeniding on the vessel, air-conditioned cabins for all passengers are at the main and lower deck located; blanket, sheets and pillows are provided. If the air-con is running you will be asked to you keep these closed.
 
Q7. -- Electricity?
A7. For recharging strobes and batteries, 220 volts current is provided
 
Q8. -- Photo / Video considerations?
A8. On most boat's a camera table is on the dive deck, large rinse tanks for cameras & computers only, equipment storage bins, color-tv monitor (NTSC & PAL).
 
Q9. -- Return trip?

A9. On the last day of the cruise all passengers checkout at 9.00 am after Breakfast .

Please make sure you take the 24 hours after diving rule in consideration and don't book your flight too early .

Also please inform us of this before you leave the office at the start of the trip.
