Live aboard diving Myanmar Nearchus Rock
|
|
The
name was certainly given by the British Admiralty
during the time they occupied Burma.
MV
Faah Yai is currenly the only dive operator
visiting this site.
Distance
from Phuket: 220 NM
Distance from Victoria Point: 100
NM
It is the most amazing dive site of the this area which we explored
2 years ago.
It
consist of one half bowling-ball pinnacle,
lying by 40 meter depth on a sandy bottom.
Only that part of the dive will provide
you shelter inside the huge rocks. During
the ascent you will have to swimm close
to the radically smooth wall untill you
reach the only crack of the ball, 5 to
10 meters below surface.
One
dive on the way back to the south of Mergui
archipelago.
The
highlight here is the lack of holes for
the fish to hide.
It
results in a kind of cohabitation or condominium
for moray eels. Sometime you will find
different species in the same hole. The
bottom is covered by seafans. Many lionfish
as "Pterois volitan". Enormous
blotched stingrays. In the shallower water,
we ca appreciate the world of nudibranchs
and with luck and good weather conditions,
be surprised with a whale shark.
